The survey of 24 km of elevated railway route in this bustling city was carried out in partnership with a Thai company. Communication skills learned in Turkey and elsewhere enabled our staff to quickly organise the local survey crews, ensuring that the work was delivered on time and to our own exacting standards.
The system runs through the main business districts of Sukhumvit Road, Silom Road and Phayathai Road. These urban canyons required very accurate surveys to enable the designers to thread the tracks and position the stations between properties lining the route. The proposed design called for precast concrete box segments supported on columns at 30-35 metre intervals, each column supported on at least 4 piles up to 50 metres deep.
