In order to plan maintenance work required on the A4 Autostrada, the client requested known reference points along the autostrada from Venezia to Trieste, a total distance of 126km.
The time-scale of the project was much shorter than it would have been if traditional techniques had been used, as Clear Cone is a non-contact survey technique, carried out from the hardshoulder. Furthermore, by using the Clear Cone system the resulting costs associated with lane closures were avoided, thus making the project much more cost effective for the client. As the survey was continued throughout the year, at busy periods such as the summer months, the advantage of using Clear Cone proved beneficial with no disruption to the traffic flow.
