Tom joined L&B in 1976 as a graduate of North East London Polytechnic with RICS qualifications, and a desire to see the world at somebody else’s expense, and he got his wish. He has worked in Nigeria, Guinee, Kuwait, Western Samoa, Sultanate of Oman, UAE, Puerto Rico, Canada, USA, Kong, Greece, Hungary etc.
He managed the Oman office from 1982 to 1985, and then returned to the Swansea Office to manage the rapidly developing requirement for the delivery of digital mapping data, especially on large projects. He became a Director in 1989 and has been responsible for all aspects of the development of L&B’s CAD and GIS capability, special projects and technologies, like Hazmap (Panoramic Digital Photogrammetry) and all that was involved in their commercial development. He is now also responsible for Quality, Health and Safety and Environment issues, and the Marketing of the business in general.
John began his career at L&B in 1972, directly from Swansea University, spending his first few years building Oil refineries at Milford Haven, well that’s his story… That was quickly followed by extended trips to Iran, eventually leading to him managing an office there. He returned to run the South Wales office, and became a director in 1979.
In the following 30 years he has travelled all over the UK and the rest of the world for that matter managing topographic surveys, primarily road and pipeline schemes. In the mid 90’s he became responsible for our Clear Cone activities, and has developed this technology to be the leading method of surveying motorways safely and accurately for road widening and maintenance schemes. Over the last few years he has taken a keen interest in Sailing and now runs our Hydrographic department.
Stewart started his time with L&B in 1982, and spent his formative years predominantly in the middle east (Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and UAE) and ultimately running the Kuwait office in the late 80’s. He returned to supervise the fieldwork for the new created ClearCone system, overseeing its technical and commercial success in its early years.
He went on to not only supervise our dimensional control and Hazmap activities, which took him to exotic locations like Trinidad and Western Australia, but also was heavily involved with the supervision of all aspects of L&B’s topographic surveys, and subsequently became Survey Manager in 1999. He became a Director in 2004 and is now responsible for Sales and Marketing for all our topographic and environmental survey work. He also looks after our staffing.
Richard has been our accountant since 1980, with a short break in the mid eighties to extend his experience in the local construction and electronic industries. Since his return he has been responsible for all aspects of the companies’ accounts, and preparing financial data for the management team on a monthly basis. He became Company Secretary in 2007 and has always, somehow, found time for L&B and support his beloved Llanelli Scarlets, Swansea City and Glamorgan Cricket.
